Could life be supported on other planets? How important is space exploration? How much money should our country invest in this cause? Mrs. Brown has challenged our class to find out what they can about these topics. Students researched and took notes. They will continue to research, synthesize their findings, and present arguments on these controversial topics.
Could life be supported on other planets? How important is space exploration? How much money should our country invest in this cause? Mrs. Brown has challenged our class to find out what they can about these topics. Students researched and took notes. They will continue to research, synthesize their findings, and present arguments on these controversial topics. Students have been sharing their editorials that they wrote with our class. Two students researched and presented reasons why students should wear school uniforms. Two other students shared research and reasons why schools should not require school uniforms. Both editorial were presented, which led to a debate, which led to small discussion groups, which led to a follow-up whole-class discussion. The first 10 Amendments comprise the Bill of Rights. Groups of two or three students in our class worked together to design a poster to help their classmates understand each amendment. They were encouraged to also create skits, cheers, slogans, poems, or chants. Some even made props. Classmates took notes during the presentations. As always, an opportunity for creativity sparks the imagination! Well done! The class earned a reward for filling up the cottonball jar. They chose a campout in the classroom at lunchtime. It was fun to watch their teamwork in setting up/taking down the tents. Also, there was a lot of laughter, competition, and creativity. Noah started off the new year with his birthday and by having his Celebration week. We enjoyed his poster, "What's in the Sack" items, and his favorites. Surprisingly, our class had no students with brithdays in October, November, or December, so it is great to celebrate some birthdays again! There will be five in February! Yay! |
