Four wagon trains in our classroom have been making their way westward from Missouri to Oregon through a simulation called Hacker Trail. Activities include daily reading and homework pages, watching short video clips, activities such as bridge building to cross rivers, and fates. The fates involve the toss of a coin, roll of a die, tossing of objects into bins, and more. Life on the trail can be exhilarating and dangerous! Principal Mr. Kaye welcomed OMS fifth graders who enjoyed student-led tours and a taste of middle school. What a fun performance of music and dancing! The concert was a highlight of this year! Way to go, everyone! And a huge thanks to Mrs. Privett. Dulci so eloquently shared words of appreciation from all of us! Rich discussions, thoughtful questions, differing opinions, and new discoveries fill our classroom as novel groups meet to share. Island of the Blue Dolphins, Hatchet and Operation Redwood have been engaging and thought-provoking. |
