From slimy eyeballs in goo to a cute mummy craft, and bags all set for delivery to P.A.D.S., this party had it all! Check out more pictures under the Photos tab. Thanks, parent volunteers, for a terrific party! This week, Ms. Davis, Mrs. FitzPatrick and even Dr. Bein joined us for our museum walk/sharing time of our bio-people with Mrs. Tranter's class. Mr. Chung and Dr. Olsen from the administration offices also stopped in on different days and happened to see them. The bio-bottles are creative, and the speeches have been very educational. Our class has learned all about Misty Copeland, Will Cushing, Michael Phelps, Laura Ingalls, Wayne Gretski, Harry Houdini, Babe Ruth, Alex Morgan, Kerri Walsh-Jennings, Maddie Ziegler, Milton Hershey, Neil Armstrong, Jane Goodall, Gracie Gold, Michael Jordan, Paul Revere, Tom Brady, Walter Payton, Jordan Spieth, Sacagewea, Albert Pojols, Jessie Ownes, Cleopatra, Dr. Seuss, King Tut, and Hope Solo. This was a practice selfie taken the day of the Open House. Check out the family selfies under the Photos tab. Thank you to everyone who came to visit our classroom and the school. It was so much fun to see you all here taking a glimpse of our world in 5-1! Five debates took place in our classroom today. After some research and planning, two loyalists debated with two patriots. Each person had one minute to explain their main arguments. Then, debaters argued back and forth. It was exciting to see many students leading our class with compelling arguments. Later, students reflected on the debate... which group or individual presented the strongest arguments, how they personally contributed, what they could do next time to be even more effective, and more. Many fifth graders celebrated having two or less strikes in the month of September by participating in the 10th Inning, which for this month allowed students to have their own recess, do crafts, use technology, play with Legos, or play indoor games. A job well done, fifth graders, with your homework and behavior! Teachers are hoping all students will qualify for the 10th inning next month! |
