Fifth graders are preparing to become "walking, talking commercials" for a book that they have read and recommend. Their creativity and artistic talent is being expressed and enjoyed! "Mr. John" took us on a ride to the planets and beyond. He very enthusiastically shared some Greek mythology about come of the constellation characters. Our class is building up our reading stamina and enjoying it! They even chose a read-a-thon as a reward! So awesome! It was a busy day when our class went outside four times throughout the day to measure and trace various shadows and where the sun was located in the sky throughout the day. The next day we graphed our data and analyzed our results. A friend from another fifth grade class discovered a beautiful katydid, and our class helped with a safe temporary container and then a release into the forest near the Olive field. This is a great game that uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (and as we learn more about them, exponents, too). Players use as many of their five cards as possible to reach their target card. Each week, one student shares about themselves... photos, favorites, and items in a sack! Classmates get to guess about the items in the sack and ask questions to get to know their classmate better. Teams helped each other make their way through an obstacle course in our classroom. Success was only possible if everyone succeeded. |
