So much creativity! It was great to see how 5-1 students taught our class about The Constitution through games, posters, slideshows, letters, newspapers, and plays! Our last day before spring break was a lot of fun! Two parts cornstarch and one part water makes for a unique substance. One second it seems like a liquid and the next second it seems like a solid. This activity was a fun way to end our study of Matter. It has been so much fun to get to know each other through the sharing of posters, reading of "Favorites" sheets, and guessing about "What's in the sack?" items. All 25 posters have been hung in the hallway for this week and will be sent home at the end of next week. In random groups of three, students solve real-world problems by taking turns with an erasable marker. They explain their thinking and collaborate at one of the seven vertical white board spaces around the classroom. The class investigated: Does the mass of an object change when it is broken into smaller pieces? Does the mass of objects change when they are mixed together? Does the mass of an object change if the object changes states (solid, liquid)? Our class has 18 band participants! Under Ms. Pucci's guidance, the fifth grade band performed recently and sounded great! Keep up the wonderful work! Our buddies visited our classroom view our projects, learn about the people our class studied, and read books together. What are the properties of matter? How would you describe items that are solid, liquid and gas? How are they alike and different? Charlie Shiffman, a Hersey soccer and basketball player, read some fun stories and answered questions about his experiences at Patton, Thomas, and Hersey. We enjoyed his visit! |
