A sunny day meant a day spent outside for our class. Four times today students participated in a variety of activities. We traced the shadows cast by a large cone. In partners, students traced the shadow cast by a small screw. We observed and drew the landscape facing south of us and added in where the sun appeared in the sky. We measured in fists how high above the horizon the sun rose. By holding our hands in a diamond shaped-shadow opening, we tried to raise them up but keep a small stone in the center. Back inside, the class charted and graphed their data then drew some conclusions.
